Shopping For A New Car

About Me

Shopping For A New Car

When my boss told me that he needed me to shop for some fleet vehicles for our business, I thought I would be getting a well-deserved break from work. Unfortunately, the task quickly snowballed into a giant ordeal. In addition to finding a dealer that we could trust, I also didn't really know how to decide between makes and models. However, after a lot of research, I was able to narrow down my choices. I was able to find a group of cars that our salespeople could drive comfortably, and it really helped our business to branch out. This blog is all about shopping for new cars, and how to avoid some of the more common pitfalls.

4 Benefits Of Buying A Used Car

When its time to replace your vehicle, you may be on the fence about purchasing a new car or a used car. While there are pros and cons to both, for many people buying a used car makes more sense. The benefits of choosing a used vehicle include:

More Car for the Money

Buying a used car does not mean that you have to get a piece of junk that is on its last legs. Many people trade in cars that are only a couple of years old and have low mileage, so if you visit a used car dealership you are sure to find a wide selection of quality pre-owned vehicles. Since used cars are less expensive than their new counterparts, your budget can go a lot farther when you decide to buy a pre-owned car. Buying used may make it possible to buy a make and model that you can't afford to purchase new, or you may be able to get a fully loaded used car for less than the price of a base model new car.

No Worries About Depreciation

Brand new cars and trucks depreciate in value the moment that they are driven off the lot; after one year a typical new car can lose 19% of its value, and after two years a vehicle is only worth 69% of its original purchase price. When you buy a used vehicle, you don't have to worry about drastic depreciation-- after a few years depreciation tends to slow down. Purchasing a used car ensures that you don't lose a lot of money by purchasing something that doesn't hold its value.

Extended Warranties

Many people enjoy the warranty that comes with a new car, but buying used doesn't mean that you have to miss out on that benefit. Most used car dealerships sell extended warranties for pre-owned vehicles, so you can have peace of mind while driving without paying new car prices. A lot of dealerships also offer certified pre-owned vehicles that are thoroughly inspected to ensure that they are mechanically sound and in great condition.

More Choices

Purchasing a used vehicle gives you a lot more cars and trucks to choose from, and you're not stuck just looking at the most current model year. Used car dealerships typically have a large variety of inventory, so you can take your time looking at different makes and models until you find the perfect used vehicle that fits your budget and your needs.
